Opinions, plans, and solving problemsLesson 9 · B1 · 10 minutes

In this lesson

Explain the reason for a decision and its result.

The idea, simply

Because introduces the reason and so introduces the result: I was tired, so I went home. I went home because I was tired. Do not use both in one sentence. Use although for a contrast between two ideas: Although it was late, we finished. Do not add but after it, a common mistake carried over from Arabic. Put a comma before so, and after the although clause when it comes first.

Examples

  • Although it was late, we finished the project.
