Experiences and storiesLesson 2 · B1 · 10 minutes

In this lesson

Say when something happened in the past.

The idea, simply

Use the past simple with a finished, specific time such as yesterday, last year, two years ago, or in 2022. Do not use the present perfect with these words: say I went there in 2022, not I have gone there in 2022. A conversation often opens with the present perfect and continues with details in the past simple.
