Describe one place relative to another.

The idea, simply

Use near for proximity, next to for adjacency, and opposite for across from. Between needs two places: between the bank and the café. Opposite takes no to after it, while next always takes to.

Examples

  • The café is next to the bank.

  • The pharmacy is opposite the school.

  • The shop is between the bank and the café.
